การบริหารจัดการโลจิสติกส์ในมิติที่เกี่ยวกับสิ่งแวดล้อมและชุมชน เพื่อลดผลกระทบที่เกิดจากการผลิต และกระบวนการอื่นๆ เช่น การบรรจุ การขนส่ง การกระจายสินค้า
The Council of Logistics Management (CLM) ซึ่งเป็นองค์กรทางวิชาชีพทางด้าน โลจิสติกส์ของประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ได้ให้คำนิยามของโลจิสติกส์ ดังนี้
โลจิสติกส์ หมาย ถึง กระบวนการวางแผน การดำเนินงาน และการควบคุมการเคลื่อนย้ายทั้งไปและกลับ การเก็บรักษาสินค้า บริการ และข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและมีประสิทธิผล ตั้งแต่จุดเริ่มต้นของการผลิตไปสู่จุดสุดท้ายของการบริโภคเพื่อตอบสนองความ ต้องการของลูกค้า
โลจิสติกส์ (Logistics) หมายถึง การจัดลำเลียงสินค้าเพื่อให้เกิดค่าใช้จ่ายโดยรวมในการกระจายสินค้าต่ำที่ สุด โลจิสติกส์เกี่ยวข้องตั้งแต่กระบวนการจัดหาวัตถุดิบและไปสิ้นสุด ณ จุดที่มีการบริโภคสินค้านั้น หรือในอีกความหมายหนึ่ง โลจิสติกส์เป็นกระบวนการในการจัดการวางแผน จัดสายงานและควบคุมกิจกรรมทั้งในส่วนที่มีการเคลื่อนย้ายและไม่มีการเคลื่อน ย้ายในการอำนวยความสะดวกของกระบวนการไหลของสินค้า ตั้งแต่จุดเริ่มจัดหาวัตถุดิบไปถึงจุดที่มีการบริโภคโลจิสติกส์ ประกอบด้วยกิจกรรมต่างๆ 2 ลักษณะ คือ กิจกรรมหลักและกิจกรรมสนับสนุน
โลจิสติกส์ หมายถึง การจัดการเคลื่อนย้ายของสินค้า บริการ ข้อมูล และการเงินระหว่างผู้ผลิตและผู้บริโภค จะเกี่ยวข้องกับกิจกรรมต่างๆ ดังต่อไปนี้
กิจกรรมหลัก (Key Activities) ได้แก่
– ระบบการขนส่ง (Transportation)
– การบริหารสินค้าใน stock ( Inventory Management)
– ขบวนการสั่งซื้อ (Order Processing)
– การจัดการด้านข้อมูล ( Information Management)
– การจัดการด้านการเงิน ( Financial Management)
กิจกรรมสนับสนุน ( Supporting Activities) ได้แก่
– การบริหารคลังสินค้า ( Warehouse Management)
– การจัดการควบคุมวัสดุในการผลิต ( Material Handling)
– การจัดซื้อ ( Purchasing)
– การบรรจุหีบห่อ ( Packaging)
– การบริหารความต้องการของสินค้า ( Demand Management)

Regulations to control the international spread of wood and forest pests are becoming increasingly important in the wood trade. Traders, shippers, exporters and carriers are all seeking the best way to comply with these new requirements.
ISPM-15 is an international standard for phytosanitary measures which is being progressively implemented throughout the world. Already some 28 countries have adopted the standard; a further 21 are in the progress of doing so and about another hundred countries have signalled their intension to bring the requirement to their national regulations.
Countries which have signed up to ispm-15 are entitled to refuse entry at their frontiers to goods on wooden pallets, in crates, spools or any other wood packaging unless it has been treated, marked and certified in accordance with their regulations. Associated Pallets has been providing a heat treatment which meets the demands of ISPM-15 and since the introduction of the plant some four years ago, has become experienced in all needs of the wood packaging producer and user.
